About us

Established in 1952, the concert series Stunde der Musik in Halle (Saale) is today one of the most traditional and recognized concert series in Central Germany.

Over the past decades, some of the most outstanding personalities and ensembles in the world of classical music have given concerts as guests of our series, including Swjatoslaw Richter, Midori, Brigitte Engerer, Peter Schreier, Dang Thai Son, Linos Ensemble, Trio Parnassus, Aurèle Nicolet, Alban Gerhardt, Cuarteto Casals, Natalia Gutman, Ewa Kupiec, Janáček Quartett, Trio Wanderer, Elisso Virsaladze, Isabelle Faust, Leipziger Streichquartett, Vera Gornostayeva, Heinz Holliger and many others.

During the period of the German division the concerts were organized by the state-owned concert directorate of former East Germany.

From 1990, after the German reunification, the Kammermusikverein Halle e.V., founded by the longstanding artistic director Ms. Ingrid Hellmann and dedicated music lovers, has been in charge of the organization and all economical activities.
